Bio

Alec, also known as coach Wellsy, has been coaching with 1UP since he was 16. He is a coach who pushes players to improve in every training session and provides strong encouragement. You can catch Alec bantering back and forth with players in between reps and building positive relationships with the young 1UPers! 

In 2019 when Alec was 16, he left home and moved to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where he was billeted for a Celtic FC academy. He spent six months in Moose Jaw and returned home to Calgary when COVID-19 struck Canada. Alec credits this as the largest turning point in his soccer career, as well as his personal journey. He gained independence, maturity and accountability. 

Coaching Achievements

Alec is the Director of School Programs, Creative Apparel Lead, Head of Communications for 1UP Soccer and builds towards his journalism degree at SAIT by crafting our weekly newsletters titled “Wellsy’s Weekly Overview.” Alec continues to improve his roles and responsibilities for 1UP!
