Advanced Dribbling - Cuts & Turns (June 20th - June 26th)
Objective: Players will gain the ability to manipulate, protect and change directions, evade pressure and become more dangerous, all at game speed!
Coaching Points:
Changing directions with one touch
Ball 1st, hips 2nd
Freedom with the ball (Creativity & flair)
Effective ball protection (safe side)
Find open space
1UP 1v1 Battle
Structure
1 net, 2 lines of players numbered 1-4 if needed
call out numbers and players race towards the ball, player first to get there is the attacker
if a defender wins it, they play a bounce pass off the coach and then roles are reversed
count scores, make it competitive
go through coaching points
Progression/Regression
manipulate the ball so each player takes turns defending
1UP 1v1 Cross The Line
Structure
one team will start with the ball and attack the defenders, trying to cross the line before they pass to the next line
defender tries to prevent the attacker from crossing the line
Progression/Regression
after 5 minutes of work time, a neutral comes in and plays with the attacking team to create an “underload” for the defender to try and defend
neutrals stay in for 2 minutes or 1 round
focus on blocking the pass and pushing the attacker to the outside
2v2/3v3 Schalke
Structure
normal 2v2/3v3 game
no more players than a 3v3
players are assigned to an opponent on the other team
if the opponent you are assigned to scores, you have to do a lap of the entire field before returning
first team to 3 goals wins
