Highlighting 1UP’s University Coaches PT.1
1UP Fam, the post secondary footy season is right around the corner!
Many USports and CCAA schools have already started their pre season ahead of the regular season which beings at either the end of August or at the start of September.
Let’s take some time to highlight our 1UP coaches who are playing post secondary footy!
Georgia Johnson:
First up is Georgia Johnson who is entering her rookie season at STFX in Halifax!
“I’m really excited to be part of a new team dynamic, surrounded by players of different ages. I can’t wait to learn from the senior players and push myself to match their level of skill and experience,” she said.
“I’ve really enjoyed coaching this summer season and watching the younger players improve and develop their skills. I’m proud to have been part of that growth. I’m looking forward to seeing where 1Up goes from here,” Johnson added.
Good luck coach Georgia!
Bryn Mortensen:
Next is Bryn Mortensen who is returning for her third year at MacEwan University in Edmonton!
“I’m most looking forward to doing what I love everyday. All the games, training sessions, and chasing a national championship with my team!” Mortensen said.
“Coaching with 1UP throughout the spring and summer has been such a rewarding experience. Being able to come back and coach where I once played has been such a full circle moment for me,” she added.
Good luck coach Bryn!
Alec Wells:
Next is Alec Wells, 1UP’s Director of School Programs & Apparel, who is returning for his second year at SAIT in Calgary!
“I’m grateful to return for another year at SAIT. My teammates and my coaches were extremely welcoming in my first year and I’m thrilled to return as a veteran presence to help us get to where we belong, lifting a national championship,” Wells said.
“This spring & summer was one of the best with 1UP! I love the 1UP family and can’t wait to return to my roles after the university season to run and expand more school programs as well as add new apparel to the 1UP shop! Stay tuned for that 👀,” Wells added.
Good luck coach Wellsy!
Viktoria Birglechner:
Next is Viktoria Birglechner who is returning for her second year at the University of Lethbridge in Lethbridge!
“I’m looking forward to seeing my teammates and growing together as a team. We start pre season early this year and it’s a great opportunity to get better,” she said.
