2) Renert School Important Protocols
DO NOT ARRIVE EARLY! Please enter building maximum of 5 minutes prior to session start time

Players enter and exit through the exterior red door in the tall senior building. This door is located 10m North of the main entrance. Look for the 1UP sign! Please do not enter through the main entrance. My self (Martino Bertolesi) or a 1UP staff member will greet the students at the door, as it will be locked, so please do not arrive more than 5 minutes early. If you have any problems, please call a 1UP staff member (numbers will be written beside the door).
Late arrival or pick up:
If you are arriving late to drop off or pick up a player please contact Coach Martino at 403-970-7799. Our doors LOCK once closed and want to make sure everyone is indoors safe during the cold winter period. Thanks!
Players grouping
For an unmatched & positive Coach to player ratio players will be split into 2 groups upon arrival, forming groups of 4 - 8 players. The player will be informed of their group upon arrival each day.
Our goal at 1UP is to ensure every player receives a positive training environment that is best suited for their individual development. As per Canada Soccer Guidelines, player groupings may change from day to day.
Winter Training Menu (Training Topics & Curriculum)
It is crucial that at a young age our grassroots player develop a relationship with the ball and create a strong base that can later be built upon with more technical movements and manipulations. This is why it is important that players get as many touches possible in a session and everyone is on the ball for the entire duration. Below are all the topics that we will work on in rotation through out these next 2 months.
Cuts & Turns (Change of direction)
1. Touch ball before turning the body
2. Inside, outside & roll
3. Slice a block of cheese (foot come over the ball, not around the ball)
4. Turbo time!! Change of speed!
Dribbling (Close control and running with the ball)
1. Dinosaur on a leash (weight of touch)
2. Toe Down like a ballerina
3. Top of the foot (Laces, one foot only)
4. Run away with your dinosaur (go as fast as you can)
Creating & Scoring (Shooting and volleying)
1. Toe’s down, contact with laces
2. Dinosaur step approaching the ball
3. Contact nose of the ball!
4. Follow through (Kick all the way through the ball. Don’t stab it)
Receiving (Controlling a pass)
1. Be bouncy! (Be on the balls of your feet)
2. Eyes watch the ball, the body gets infront of it!
3. Glue on your feet (Try and get the ball to stick to your foot)
