Grassroots Program Info Package

Thank you for registering to our Grassroots Program. Please take 5 minutes to read the below and email martinobertolesi@1upsoccer.com if you have any questions.

Our Why!

At 1UP, our passion is developing players technically, tactically, physically and mentally, without forgetting that youth players need to ENJOY the process. 1UP Soccer is committed to ensuring all sessions are delivered with high quality to improve each individual player. With a heavy focus on improving each player's technical ability, every 'skill' trained will always be paired with decision making. This will give each player more understanding on how to implement each technique into their games.
There will be a high focus & effort demanded from each player, all while an encouraging and FUN environment is being created. If you want to improve your confidence, this is the place to train.

Technical Information & Your Training Menu

Each week we will be introducing a different training topic. At a recreational and Grassroots level we value that time on the ball is the most important thing for players at this level. We want our players to leave each session feeling a little bit more under control, balanced and confident with the ball at their feet. Some of the topics but NOT ALL can be found below:

  • Dribbling

  • Cuts & Turns

  • Shooting

  • 1V1 Attacking

  • Passing and Receiving

  • Protecting & Shielding

All sessions are carefully designed by head coach Martino Bertolesi which consists of all important player habits needed to excel and improve in today's modern game within GAME REALISTIC training activities. Martino blends his 7 years of youth & collegiate experience, with his 2 National Coaching licenses to bring the players and coaching staff a second to none training environment.

Player Groupings

It is important for us that all players are training within the correct training group. We do our best to place the players by development stage and not by age or gender. The maximum number for a group is 8 players. If you registered with teammates with less than 6-8 players, please expect outside players in your group, that are within the same developmental stage.

With 300+ players training per week, it is impossible to get it perfectly. If you feel like you haven’t been placed in the correct group, please contact us.

Junior Coach Program

Our junior coach program is a program that we are very proud of. So far, over 100 players have had the chance to volunteer throughout the week, gain work experience, and experience another side of the game - coaching! Some Junior Coaches will be present helping during the sessions and assisting our head coaches.

Parents & Spectators Viewing

Parents, friends and families are always welcomed with us! We encourage and welcome all parents and families to watch as much of the training as they please. Please refrain from giving the players instructions during the session and remain outside of the training area.

Medical/Injuries

Our player's safety is our first priority. Please read the below carefully:

  • If there are any medical concerns or injuries that you wish to highlight, please inform us via email prior to the session and we will add it to our records and make sure the coaches on site are aware.

  • If there are any last minute medical concerns or injuries that you wish to highlight, please make sure you inform your coach before the session

  • Please ensure that your player packs all proper medication necessary. (Inhaler, EpiPen, etc.)
