Training Menu

Sundays Sessions are carefully designed by head coach & founder Graham Fisher which consists of all important player habits needed to excel and improve in today's modern game within GAME REALISTIC training activities. Graham blends his 7 years of youth & professional experience in Germany, Ireland, Spain & England, with his 3 National Coaching licenses to bring the players and coaching staff a second-to-none training environment. As well as with Input from our Director of Curriculum and Player Development, current pro with Cavalry FC, Niko Myroniuk.

The team session will focus on 3 activities to help the players improve their receiving and delay, Deny, Destroy defensive habits.

Topic, Objective & Coaching Points

Delay, Deny, Destroy

Objective: To become confident in 1v1 duels against attackers, learn to defend and win the ball so we can attack.

Coaching Points:

  1. Arrive at the ball quickly

  2. Slow down as you get close

  3. Get low and delay

  4. Wait for a trigger to win the ball

    • bad touch

    • attacker’s head is down

    • attacker turns their back

Topic, Objective & Coaching Points

Advanced Passing

Objective: Players will gain the ability to receive and pass at varying distance quickly and accurately (or play one touch) to increase your speed of play in possession to become a more dangerous player.

Coaching Points:

  1. Vision & Awareness before receiving (decision made before pass arrives)

  2. Select body shape

  3. Select pass type

  4. Pass technique & execution

  5. Find the next space quickly!

1UP Line Battle

Structure

  • one player will start with the ball and attack the defenders, trying to cross the line before they pass to the next line by playing a 1-2

  • defender tries to prevent the attacker from crossing the line

    Progression/Regression

  • straight away, a neutral comes in and plays with the attacking team to create an “underload” for the defender to try and defend

  • neutrals stay in for 2 minutes or 1 round

  • focus on committing the defender then playing to the neutral

  • if you need to make it easier for the defenders then take away a neutral for a 1v1

1UP Triangle Passing

Structure

  • Set up a small 90 degree triangle with discs about 10 yards apart from the middle pole

  • 1 player is working in the middle of the triangle checking out and checking in to receive the ball before passing it back

  • They will work back and forth 10 times, 5 on each side, before then switching with one of their partners who then takes their turn

  • Run it as a race to see which team can finish first

Progression/Tips

  • Next progression only needs one ball, they will receive from one teammate on their back foot, before then playing a pass to the other teammare

  • Again, race to 10 before then switching with a teammate

  • The last progression will be for them to receive the ball, take a touch around the pole before passing around the corner to their teammate

  • Again, race to 10 before then switching with a teammate

1UP Defensive Transition Game

Structure

  • Set up a field with 3 sections two ends and a middle section to act as a neutral zone

  • Divide players into 3 teams

  • Team 1 attacks team 2 while team 3 rests. if team one is scored on or the ball goes our team 1/2 will transition to ataack team 3

  • Team with the most points wins - goal is worth 1 point, forcing a tarnation is worth 2

Progression/Tips

  • Smaller Field

  • Add keepers
