1UP fam, we’ve had some former 1UP academy players, current academy players and even a 1UP player turned coach hit some massive accomplishments recently! Let’s take a look at some of the most recent 1UP Soccer success stories:
🦖 Coach Lennon Signs with University of Calgary 🦖
A HUGE congratulations to current 1UP Soccer coach Lennon Maguire for her commitment to the University of Calgary women’s soccer team. Coach Lennon is a Calgary Rangers academy product and grew up as a player in the 1UP Soccer academy before transitioning into a junior coach. Now, coach Lennon is a paid grassroots and small group training coach with 1UP and is headed to Vernon B.C. for 1UP’s first out of province camp!

🏆 Pepple wins Plymouth Player of the Month 🏆
With an outstanding five goals in February, former 1UP academy baller Aribim Pepple was voted Plymouth Argyle’s player of the month for February. Pepple leads all Canadian players playing in Europe in goals and assists in 2026! the former Cavalry striker had trained with 1UP’s founder coach Graham in his offseason spent back in Calgary.
🦖 Abi Hopwood Signs with University of Calgary 🦖
Another massive congratulations to former `1UP academy player Abi Hopwood for her commitment to the University of Calgary women’s soccer team!
Hopwood trained in the 1UP academy as a youth player, growing up through the Calgary Rangers pathway.
She will join the UofC Dinos along with Lennon Maguire for the 2026-27 school year!

⚪️ Gherasimencov Makes Whitecaps Debut ⚪️
On March 7, former Cavalry FC player Mihail Gherasmencov made his Vancouver Whitecaps first team debut, coming on as a substitute in the final minutes of the 4-1 win against the Portland Timbers.
1UP’s founder Graham Fisher is proud to have coached him individually through his youth, making him part of the 1UP family!
Gherasimencov came through the Whitecaps youth academy, spending time with the Whitecaps 2 team before spending last season on loan with the Cavalry.

Highlighting 1UP United’s Week!
Our 6v6 squad was back in action this week!
6v6:
This week, the 1UP Untied 6v6 squad faced off against Lads United on Saturday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Calgary Soccer Centre.
Our 1UP United squad took a 6-1 win with
Maksym Chykhovych scoring four goals, Massimo Menga scoring two and Tyron Hutchings scoring one goal in the win.
Next for 1the UP United 6v6 squad is a match against Neighbourhoods United on Tuesday, March 17 at 10:45 p.m. at the Shane Homes West Soccer Dome Quarter NE
