1UP Went to a NEW Province?! 📍
1UP fam, we ran a camp in a new province for the first time!
From March 23-26, Five 1UP staff members ventured from Calgary to Vernon, B.C. for our Okanagan Game Changer Camp!
Over the course of four days, 1UP trained close to 70 British Columbia players and made an instant impact, bringing the 1UP style and flair to young footballers.
Players improved on their goal scoring, dribbling, defending & defensive transition, vision & awareness and combination play. To wrap it up on Thursday, the players competed in a 1UP style competition games day!
Here’s what some of our 1UP coaches had to say about the experience and opportunity of coaching 1UP’s first out of province camp:
Marc Frey: 1UP Community Outreach Lead
“I believe it was a massive success,” Frey said.
“Seeing the camp players improve every day was a special feeling. The players were really enjoying themselves and having fun.”
“Parents were talking to us saying thank you and appreciating us for coming from Calgary,” he added.
“I’m happy that these players were exposed to a 1UP camp with the standards we bring. I hope this experience fuels the hunger to show up and improve every day for the beautiful game,” Frey said.
Keegan Biggs: 1UP Director of Football Operations
“I absolutely loved it - the camp was fantastic!” Biggs said.
“Beyond that, I felt like I built some really strong connections with the team. That’s a huge part of what makes 1UP special — it genuinely felt like a family environment.”
“Seeing the feedback come in really showed that we’re able to make a meaningful impact, especially for players in the Okanagan who are looking to take their game to the next level,” Biggs said. “We saw a lot of improvement in just four days, which makes it exciting to think about what could be achieved if we were there consistently.”
“This is just the beginning of something really big for 1UP. We have a strong team both behind the scenes and on the field.”
“This feels like a true starting point for expanding into other cities and provinces, and I’m excited to see where it goes next,”Biggs said.
Recapping 1UP United’s Perfect Season
Our 6v6 squad won the league!
With a 16-0 record, 145 goals scored and 36 goals against, 1UP United capped off their invincible season last week and look forward to outdoor where they will be competing in the CUSA Premier Division.
Here’s what men’s team director Anthony Garmory had to say about the season:
The indoor was great for us to bring new players together and a chance for us to enjoy our football,” Garmory said.
“We’ve been discussing plans ahead of the outdoor season and looking at how we can build on last seasons success and take the momentum from indoor.”
“There’s a feeling around the team that we could be onto something really special,” Garmory added.
