🏕️ 1UP's First-Ever Multisport Camp

We may be called 1UP Soccer, but we can coach a lot more than footy! 👀

Summer might be wrapping up, but before it does, let's look back at 1UP's Multisport Camps, the first time we've ever run this program! Over the span of 7 weeks, our camps ran daily at St. William School, giving close to 200 players a full summer of training in soccer, flag football, golf, softball, swimming, basketball, ultimate frisbee, pickleball, and more recreational games. More than 20 coaches were on the field throughout the summer to make it happen. Thanks to everyone who joined us, we can't wait to do it again next year! 🙌

"The Multisport camp was honestly such an amazing experience. My favourite part was definitely the overall vibes and being able to connect with all the players throughout the seven weeks. You really get to know the kids, see their personalities come out, and watch them grow and become more confident as the camp goes on. You could see how excited they were to come in each day, try different sports, and hang out with their friends. Shoutout to the Multisport Camp Family!!!"

This Week in Training

👀 Vision and Awareness

This week's objective: players will gain the ability to effectively scan and play while receiving the ball, recognizing space, defenders, and teammates. The ultimate objective is to have a plan A and plan B before the ball is received.

Coaching Points

Double movement to shake defender
Demand ball
See space in front
Shoulder check: side-on body shape, "a picture, not a video"
Time the check right before a short pass, not too early or too late
Vary body shape: facing on, or disguised facing away
